Boston TECH WEEK by a16z kicked off right in the heart of Kendall Square with an event hosted by Y·US Ventures.
Your Consumer App is a B2B Company - hashtag#BosTechWeek
We at Y·US Ventures believed that this topic deserved a gathering for the exchange of thoughts.
We recently launched Bridgit: Your social life, settled along with co-founders. Bridgit matches you with people you vibe with in a pair or larger group for an activity you desire.
Sounds like a social app? Needs tons of investment to get first users, and then hopefully they would use it, and then the team would somehow (maybe) figure out how to monetize it. That's how social apps are built, right?
Not really. I think - and the data shows - that's how most of such apps are doomed. Along with investors' money.
Instead, at Bridgit, we do what we are best at, and that's B2B, or B2B2C. We build partnerships with businesses, directly and through partnering organizations, help them to activate, and they help Bridgit. Block after block, building density in Bridgit's target neighborhoods across its launch cities in LA & SF.
I will share more about how we actually do that, soon, as we are just at the very beginning. And how it has worked out.
P.S. If you run a business in WeHo / Venice in LA, or Marina / Mission in SF - Bridgit'd love to make friends with you.
